Welcome to Half of One
Experience the real Skye where History, Nature and Wildlife Intertwine…
Nestled in the heart of the Isle of Skye, Half of One is more than just a house. It’s a bridge to the past, an original whitewashed 19th Century Skye Crofter’s Cottage that cradles the Island’s soul. As dawn breaks, the cottage becomes a front row seat to the mesmerising sunrise dramatically lighting up the peninsula with its striking rock formations; as the day unfolds the bay becomes an abundance of wildlife to include seals, otters, sea eagles and the occasional dolphin or whale… and sheep everywhere; night time will give you the most unforgettable views of the stars as well as the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights.
Half of One isn’t just a place to stay… it’s the gateway to promising you an authentic Skye experience. It beckons you to indulge in the essence of the island, enjoy the charm of Scottish culture and to have joy in reconnecting and recharging whilst relishing the unparalleled beauty of Skye.

Venture outside and you’re immediately enveloped by the island’s raw, natural magnificence
The cliff top location (perched alone at the end of a single track) is a treasure trove for those wanting solitude, to escape the crowds and experience a real taste of the island – a mere 5 minute stroll brings you to the secluded beach and further on to the tip of Brothers Point. Here the panoramic views will take your breath away – the epic Mealt Falls and Kilt Rock in the North, across the waters of The Minch the dark silhouette of the wee Isle of Rona in the East… all from your doorstep.
Every element of Half of One – from its robust, storm-resistant build to its tranquil and remote setting resonates with the spirit of Skye. It’s a place where time slows down, allowing you to savour every moment and promising you time out, whether it’s a serene morning watching the sunrise, an afternoon exploring the nearby natural wonders or an evening of snuggling up in front of the fire and giving you moments of peace and escape from every day. Although traditional, Half Of One has been lovingly restored to blend the charm of scottish heritage with the comforts of today.
